From Lotuses in Buddhist cave paintings, the floral carvings at Ajanta Caves to Poppies and Roses in Mughal designs, Tulips from the Ottoman Empire (which also influenced Indian designs) as well as Jaipur block prints that rightfully embrace floral motifs, these motifs have made their way through history. These flowers are a reflection of nature but are also at the artists liberty to create a creation of his/her own, making motifs that are an amalgamation of human and nature.
